Description: 

This course provides the level of knowledge required for the designated seafarers to take immediate effective action in the case of accidents or illness on board a ship.

    1. Radio medical advice
    2. Procedures for seeking radio medical advice conform to established practice and recommendations
    3. Transportation of the ill and injured, including helicopter evacuation
    4. Method and preparation for evacuation is in accordance with recognized procedures , designed to maximize the welfare of the patient
    5. Medical care of sick seafarers involving co-operation with port health authorities or out-patient wards in port
    6. Clinical examination procedures are complete and comply with instructions received
