Rating As Able Seafarer Engine (STCW Regulation III/5)
Description:
The Able Seafarer Engine (STCW Regulation III/5) training course is designed to equip individual with operational skills, knowledge and attitudes of Able Seafarer Engine in accordance with industry standards.
This course is designed to equip individual with basic and common operational skills, knowledge and attitudes of STCW Regulation III/5. It covers core competencies such as the performance of engine watch keeping duties, overseeing of fuel, bilge and ballast operations, operate equipment and machinery, operate electrical equipment and maintain engine room machinery and spaces, on seagoing ship powered by main propulsion machinery of 750kW power or more.

Ten (10) days
Course Requirements:
- Attain eighteen (18) years of age
- Meet the requirements for certification as a rating forming part of a watch in a manned engine-room or designated to perform duties in a periodically unmanned engine-room.
- While qualified to serve as a rating forming a part of an engineering watch, have approved seagoing service in the engine department of
- Not less than 12 months, or
- Not less than 6 months and have completed approved training.
- Meet the standard of competence specified in section A-III/5 of the STCW Code (must have successfully completed a Motorman course.)
