Launch Captain

Description: 

In this course, participants will be provided with the training necessary to become competent Launch Captains. Upon successful examination by the Maritime Services Division of the Ministry of Transport they will obtain their Certificate of Competency & License as Launch Captain.

Modules: 
  • Collision Regulation
  • Lights 
  • The effects of propeller and rudder on a launch when maneuvering.  How to go alongside piers, jetties, gangways & ladders
  • Rope works.  How to secure vessel alongside  other vessels, piers and pick up mooring buoys.
  • Have knowledge of regulation relating to Harbour and Port Services
  • Actions to take in case of fire, man overboard, taking a boat in tow, being taken in tow, losing a rudder, engine breakdown etc.
