Basic Requirements

  • Applicants must be 16years and over
  • Medically Certificate from one of the Medical Doctors Provided*
  • Vision test part of the medical required
  • Applicants must have basic literacy skills.

Documents Required

  • Marine Medical certificate of fitness
  • Results of vision test. (Captain’s only)
  • Valid form of identification.
  • Passport-sized photograph.

 

Special Additional Entry Requirements by Courses

1.Boat Master I, II&III

Boat Master III

  • Eighteen (18) years and over
  • Must have completed Basic Safety Training (Pre Sea) at an approved institution (work requirement)
  • Have at least six (6) months experience on power driven vessels

Boat Master II

  • Twenty (20) years and over
  • Completed Boat Master III or Launch Captain at an approved institution
  • Must have completed Basic Safety Training (Pre Sea) at an approved institution (work requirement)
  • Have at least one (1) year experience on power driven vessels

Boat Master I

  • Twenty One (21) years and over
  • Completed Boat Master II at an approved institution
  • Must have completed Basic Safety Training (Pre Sea) at an approved institution (work requirement)
  • Have at least one (1) year experience on power driven vessels

2. Boat Engineer I & II

Boat Engineer II

  • Eighteen (18) years and over
  • Must have completed Basic Safety Training (Pre Sea) at an approved institution
  • Have at least six (6) months experience working in an Engine Room environment e.g Oiler or completed a period of apprenticeship at a recognized institution

Boat Engineer I

  • Twenty One (21) years and over
  • Completed Boat Engineer I at an approved institution
  • Must have completed Basic Safety Training (Pre Sea) at an approved institution
  • Have at least six (6) months experience working in an Engine Room environment e.g Oiler or completed a period of apprenticeship at a recognized institution

3. Rating forming Part of an Engine Watch 

  • 6 months of certified sea service in an Engine Room
  • Must have completed Basic Safety Training (Pre Sea) at an approved institution

3.1 Rating Forming Part of a Navigation Watch

  • 6 months of certified sea service on deck
  • Must have completed Basic Safety Training (Pre Sea) at an approved institution

4. Navigation

  • Completed Boat Master III or Launch Captain at an approved institution
